That is One Polluted Stream of Consciousness

It occurred to me on the way to work this morning that I have no idea if Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson are dating! It wasn't just a random thought that sprung out of nowhere... this was how it came about:

1. A man on a bicycle just passed by me on the sidewalk. He has a beard.
2. I think my brother should shave of his beard. Even though previously I WAS a fan of El-Beardo, I've decided he looks better without it.
3. Isn't it funny how they call women who are dating a guy who others think is gay are called the guy's "beard"?
4. People think that Reese Witherspoon is Jake Gyllenhaal's "beard" but I don't agree. I think they are truly in love :)
5. Reese Witherspoon is cute and bubbly and I love her.
6. Reese Witherspoon is one of my favourite blondes.
7. Kate Hudson is also blonde.
8. Kate Hudson is also cute and bubbly, but I don't really love her.
9. What's up with Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson and their on-off relationship?
10. OMG, are they on anymore? The last I heard they were... but it's been...

Yes, people, it's been 12 days since I have checked in with Perez Hilton. How do I feel about this? Good :) I used to pride myself on my celebrity savvy and loved knowing what was going on with the stars. But, I admit that gorging on celeb gossip does leave one feeling a little emptier on the inside. Okay, a LOT emptier on the inside. It's all fun and games, looking at pictures of a movie star being hounded by the paparazzi while visiting a Starbucks, but only when you neglect to think of actors and actresses as just regular schmoes, gettin' a cup of coffee. Yes, celebrities have to expect that with their popularity comes a certain degree of public explosure, but really, it's just gotten so ridiculous! How embarassing that our children's children will look back at our era and see that what really mattered to the majority was Lindsay Lohan's nip-slip or Amy Winehouse's most recent move in her tragicomedy life.

I'd been meaning to go on a PH diet for awhile, but having too much time on my hands would inevitably have me typing in that oh-so-familiar url. My visits had already become less frequent, though, as Perez chronicled the last days of Jade Goody, the British reality-tv star who is/was dying of cancer. It just seemed so gruesome, all of the publicity surrounding what is such a private and harrowing experience. So that, along with the fact that lately, I've had other things on my mind -- things that are of a little more consequence in the grand scheme of my life -- has kept me way. And, it's kind of nice. :) I like being out of the loop. Or, at least THAT particular loop. I've got better, sweeter things to think about that aren't related to fame or money or celebrity. Maybe that will change and I will succumb to this burning need to know whether or not Kate Hudsdon and the Butterscotch Stallion are still knocking boots. But not today.

Plus, not knowing that's going on in Hollywood hasn't affected my life adversely... so far.
